Amatuks New Golden Boy Mason October
AmaTuks golden boy, Mason October is enjoying his time at his new home in Pretoria. The 26 year old was groomed by Engen Santos in his former years and went on to make his professional debut for the club in their 2012/2013 season and featured an impressive 19 times. In 2014 Mason got the opportunity to sign with African Giants, Hearts of Oak based in Acca, Ghana. The Ghanaian side has an impressive record having been crowned Ghana League Champions on 20 occasions, and have also had success in the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup.
Mason enjoyed regular game time at hearts and quickly became a prominent name in the Ghanaian League. Although restricted at times by the limiting numbers of foreigners per team, the talented left back was voted the best player of the year at Hearts of Oak in 2014/15, starting in 13 games and scoring two goals.
This season Mason October returned to South Africa and signed for the University of Pretoria in the NFD league. Mason says the teams goals of getting back into the PSL is not far fetched at all and is finding delight in working with head coach Shaun Bartlett mentioning how his composure on the side of the field helps the team feel settled and confident even in high pressure situations.
Amatuks find themselves in a good situation in the NFD having only lost one game thus far and look to get maximum points this week, in what is playing out to be an epic battle when they host Jomo Cosmos at the Tuks Stadium on Saturday (01 October 2016).
