Arendse’s: CAF Champions League Winner

The Lion Sports Management team would like to send out a special congratulations to CAF Champions League winner and loyal client Wayne Arendse. The dedication and commitment shown over the years at Mamelodi Sundowns has paid off to the highest degree. Named one the unsung heros in Mamelodi Sundowns’ squad mainly because of the fact that he is a a quiet professional, and lets his football do the talking while keeping a low profile off the field.

Wayne started his career at Kenpark United and soon later moved to the youth side of Engen Santos. In 2006 Arendse made his professional debut when he was included in the starting XI of the senior side and during the following six years, he managed to bag 163 appearances for the Cape Town based side. In 2012 after Engen Santos found themselves battling in the relegation zone, Wayne’s reputation and professional approach saw him signing with one of Africa’s biggest clubs, Mamelodi Sundowns.

Wayne’s career at Sundowns has been a true testament to dedication and hard work when he struggled to get regular game time in his initial couple of seasons in Pretoria. Where others might have decided to seek greener pastures, Wayne’s tenacious spirits prevailed, he stuck to his guns and now has grown to become the rock in the clubs recent successes.

After Sundowns were crowned the domestic champions earlier this year, they had whole African continent’s eyes on them last night when they lifted the CAF Champions League trophy, beating the Egyptian Champions in Alexandria, Egypt.

Unfortunately Wayne  was not able to take part in the Final leg because he was serving a suspension after receiving one too many yellow cards. Wayne was replaced by his understudy, Bangaly Soumahoro who saw to it that Sundowns defended their 3-0 lead from the previous leg.

Its been an honour and a pleasure witnessing the legacy Wayne has been building and we are excited to continue growing with him.
